On May 25, 2005 Representative Sheila Jackson Lee introduced the "No More Tulias: Drug Law Enforcement Evidentiary Standards Improvement Act of 2005." This legislation will provide much-needed oversight and accountability of federal funds distributed to state and local law enforcement agencies to fight the war on drugs. This bill also seeks to limit injustices by increasing the standard of evidence required to convict a person for a drug offense and requiring screening of law enforcement officers and others working in drug task forces.

Fifty national organizations, including the Open Society Policy Center, have signed a letter to the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee stating their support of this legislation as well as calling for a prompt hearing.
