On May 12, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will vote on whether to confirm John Bolton as the next US Ambassador to the United Nations. Mounting evidence shows that Bolton is the wrong man for the job.

Mr. Bolton has shown extraordinarily poor judgment as a diplomat and civil servant. The facts suggest that he sought to change intelligence reports to suit his own views, traveled the world to talk with foreign leaders without government permission, and belittled the UN and international cooperation. Even more alarming is the recent disclosure that Mr. Bolton misused his authority, intimidated subordinates and attempt to remove them from their positions, and secured classified NSA intercepts of conversations of U.S. government officials.
